China Calls for UN Security Council Action Amid Rising Middle East Tensions

HONG KONG – China has urged the UN Security Council (UNSC) to take immediate steps to defuse tensions in the Middle East, following fresh airstrikes by Israel on targets in Lebanon.

During a Security Council meeting on Wednesday, China’s permanent representative to the UN, Fu Cong, emphasized the need for the Council to issue firm and clear demands to halt the escalating violence between Israel and Lebanon. Fu stressed that the UNSC is primarily responsible for safeguarding international peace and security, urging all parties involved to pursue political and diplomatic channels to resolve the conflict.
