Martin Luther King Jr. – Nonviolent Civil Disobedience

At the heart of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy was the principle of nonviolence. Drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s idea of “satyagraha” or truth force, King believed in confronting injustice with peaceful protests. He contended that only through nonviolent means can genuine reconciliation between the oppressor and oppressed be achieved. To King, nonviolence wasn’t merely a tactic; it was a way of life, rooted deeply in his Christian faith.
